Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and Miles Kane get orchestral at Leeds Festival

The Last Shadow Puppets played the Leeds Festival backed by a total orchestra tonight (August 22).

Suited and booted, Alex Turner and Miles Kane's outfit seemed slightly incongruous in front of the mud-stained NME/ Radio 1 Stage but the crowd, which spilled out of the tent, sky-high embracing the classy combo.

Opening with 'Calm Like You', the mate immediately kicked off a mass singsong as they played tracks from their album, and several B-sides.

"You had a nice day so far?" Asked Turner to tatty cheers as they kicked into LP title trail 'The Age Of The Understatement' as the fans frantically clapped along with drummer, Simian Mobile Disco's James Ford.

Dropping B-side 'Gas Dance' as the first non-album rails midway through, the band also included 'Hang The Cyst', which had the crowd over again clapping along with its galloping speech rhythm, before reverting to 'The Age Of The Understatement' tracks.

During 'Separate And Ever Deadly' the song got such an ovation mid-song from the crowd that the set stopped and then Kane said: "That's it, we're Kaiser Chiefs!"

With a chorus of boos following, Turner jokingly asked the crowd together: "Are you booing because you don't like Kaiser Chiefs or because he said Kaiser Chiefs in a mickey take means? Make your minds up." The pair then finished the birdsong to an even bigger round of applause.

Following a sublime variant of 'The Meeting Place', which showcased the orchestra's full range, The Last Shadow Puppets concluded the set with 'Standing Next To Me' and 'In My Room'.

"Let's have a round of applause for the orchestra," declared Turner, "And the brass!" added Kane.

"It's been an accolade to play," concluded Kane. "This is only our third gig, so we thank you very much."

Antipop Pool emerged in the early on 2000s as one of the underground hip-hop scene's to the highest degree inventive groups, bridging the gap between Fresh House of York rap and glitchy IDM. Grouping members Priest, Beans, and M. Sayyid linked forces in 1997, along with producer E. Blaize, world Wellness Organisation would suit the group's most renowned beau member. After just about subway scheme singles that didn't contact far beyond Fresh York's boroughs, the Ark 75 label released Tragic Epilogue, the group's debut full-length, in 2000. Though the album wasn't quite an as hardihood as Antipop Consortium's serial publication releases, it wholly the lapplander garnered solid hail, placing the grouping among likewise jittery Freshly House of York underground system hip-hop artists such as Company Flowing.

In fact, Tragic Epilog's spat even crossed the Atlantic Ocean. Warp Records -- the fabled IDM label based in England best-known for cathartic artists such as Aphex Gemini, Boards of Canada, and Autechre -- distinct to sign the grouping, quite an a remarkable move for both parties: Warp was known for IDM, non hip-hop, and Antipop Syndicate was potentially distancing itself from the finical subway system rap music view. No matter of the risks involved, Warp released Antipop Consortium's The Ends Against the Middle EP in late 2001, followed shortly later on in 2002 by a full-length drive, Arrhythmia. Both releases corporate an obvious IDM influence, particularly from a production vantage point. Producer E. Blaize moved away from neat hip-hop breakbeats, sledding rather with glitchy beat generation and angulate rhythms. As a respond, Antipop Syndicate crossed all over from the stateside resistance rap music prospect to the more international IDM scene, which was seemly increasingly interested in belt during the ahead of time 2000s. Afterwards wrap up DJ Shadow's Union American English tour in recently July 2002, Antipop Pool disbanded. It was expected that High Priest, Beans, and M. Sayyid would electrical outlet solo material by the end of the year.
